This series was inspired by a colourful stack of industrial pallets seen at a small seaside town in Norfolk. As a result, the finished pieces have a pleasing nautical appeal.
Each rectangle of acrylic paint is roughly overlaid onto a different photograph, which shows through in places and is obscured in others. The featured photographs were taken during the summer ’21 of various scenes or objects which I found to be unexpectedly beautiful. They mostly consist of macro texture shots of a diverse array of subjects, ranging from the roughly worn painted underside of a small boat to a colourfully adorned brick wall down a forgotten alley.
